Three years ago, we met Fannela & Mitch  at a Home @ Garden trade show in Ottawa. We presented a problem with our garage that was built back in 1947 and was starting to leak quite badly and some additional parging work around the front of the garage. Compounding the problem was a neighbour house where the brick wall was collapsing onto the top of our driveway roof. The neighbour was unhelpful and left it up to us if we wanted to fix the garage. We were able to complete the parging work right away (Canadian Masonry did a great job on this part) but had to hold off on the garage work until this year when the neighbors wall started its final collapse as the 150-year bricks were reduced to dust slowly. Canadian Masonry first sent in a team to demolish the partially collapsed wall on our neighbor’s house and secure their wall with a plastic barrier. When the work site was safe, they then removed the old concrete from the top of the garage and the garage floor. A drain was installed running from the top of the garage through our garage and out onto the driveway for drainage. The trick was to pour a roof that allowed the water from the two houses to drain properly out to the street. A frame was built, two membranes were applied and then a very tricky pour was handled brilliantly. They also went the extra mile, checking my window sills around the brick work in our Circa 1910 house and fixing a bad hole under one window sill. We also learned that the Canadian Masonry team has been with the company for a while and contained years of expertise. They have a combination of young and old staff but all very knowledgeable about concrete work. These guys are professionals. To say Canadian Masonry was brilliant is an understatement. We now have a garage floor where we can easily back out our motorcycles and car without problems and a garage roof not dripping calcium deposits onto the car. When it rains heavy the drain handles the water and the garage stays dry. Thank you, Fannela & Mitch and your great staff for sticking with this very difficult job and delivering a great product.

Mitch & Fannela went above and beyond my expectations. They quoted the requested job (chimney refurbishment and brick repointing around the house) and after I said it was more than I wanted to spend, they came up with a second option that was less expensive and worked better for me. The staff are very professional and the work is exceptional – my place is a heritage home and the new bricks are indistinguishable from the originals (>140 years old). Only Masonry worth calling in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

I found Canadian Masonry Services on the Web site and definitely agree with all the positive comments about this company. Mitch the estimator had 50+ years of experience and was very knowledgeable and explained everything in great depth. Fannela was the most friendly, accommodating and efficient business women I have dealt with. My property had some spalling bricks behind a number of hydro conduits closed to the ground. Canadian Masonry Services was the only contractor that proposed fixing it the proper way (replacing the spalling bricks and covering the 4 bottom courses with metal flashing). This would save us headache and repeated brick repairs down the road. Other work included repointing arches above doors, replacing ground level spalling bricks with Adair Limestones and parging the sides of the front entrance stairway. All work was completed professionally with the highest quality. The crew was great and cleaned up thoroughly. I have no hesitation recommending this company for masonry work.

Canadian Masonry Services recently fixed some masonry work and re-built some porch pillars from the foundation up at a 106 year old house we purchased. What a great experience working with this company. Great work, very professional, and excellent communication. We are so pleased with the results of their work. Highly recommend. 

Had Canadian Masonry Services rebuild the top 33 rows of my chimney. Great value for money, management was easy to deal with and they did a great job of matching the brick on a 1960s house. Crew was very professional and did an excellent job of cleaning up every day and after the project was completed. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for a masonry project.

We had a bunch of mason work needed on our old house, and Canadian was the only contractor that proposed doing it all the right way. For example, we had an old furnace chimney that was in bad shape, and the other contractors proposed tuck pointing it, which meant we would need to revisit it again in 10 years. Mitch proposed taking it down to the roofline and capping it, which was more work but the right way. We had our fireplace chimney completely rebuilt as well, and a new window cutout with a custom made sill. Other work included cleaning paint off old brick and replacing and pointing any damaged mortar or stained bricks. All work was first rate, and the crew were very clean and professional. Price was not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive as well. Highly recommended.

We had repairs done this past summer on our concrete veranda, needed chipping away of crumbling walls, posts between railings were also repaired( brickwork). We were so happy to maintain the traditional look of our home. Mitch & Fannela, and their crew were professional and knowledgeable. We definitely recommend them! 

Quality work at a reasonable price. Mitch was excellent to work with and explained everything clearly. My job was a drain repair on a sloping driveway, which was a bit tricky. Fannela  and here team did a great job.

I engaged Canadian Masonry Services to replace a brick window sill on the first floor which had been damaged over many years by water dripping on it from the solarium window right above it on the second floor. Turned out that water had been seeping in behind the bricks in the house causing severe damage and deterioration to the wood frame and insulation. The team at Canadian Masonry Services did a masterful job at adapting to the changing condition. They ensure that all that was required to be installed to fix the issue was completed as expediently as possible using quality material. They were very resourceful in ensuring the issue would not re-occur. They carefully removed and re-used the existing brick, which were no longer available, to ensure the brickwork would not look like patchwork. Fannela & team were very easy to work with and very responsive. We are extremely happy with the end result of the work and would highly recommend Canadian Masonry Services. 

I would absolutely recommend Canadian Masonry Services. At the start I was given a thorough explanation by Mitch of why my chimney was crumbling and how it was going to be repaired. I was already feeling confident that this would be a job well done, and it was. Great crew, excellent clean up and, more importantly, a chimney that will last a long time. 

The two masons made an excellent and clean repair. They replaced an exterior brick window sill that was crumbling after 29 years of exposure to rain and snow, with a sill made from 3′ cast concrete pieces and new bricks below. The masons completed the job in a day and cleaned up thoroughly. Neighbours complimented the new look: they thought the work had been done to add beauty to the house, not because repair was needed. 

The chimney on my house needed to be rebuilt, contacted Canadian Masonry Services for an estimate. ***** went up on the roof to examine the chimney and thoroughly explained the rebuild process. ******* and her team diligently worked efficiently during one of our hottest heat waves. The cleanup was amazing, never have contractors left my property so clean. I am impressed with the entire results and have had several positive comments from neighbors. I would hire Canadian Masonry Services again if needing masonry work. 

The team from Canadian Masonry Services  met all of our expectations. While it was a relatively small job of parging, leveling the driveway pavers and replacing spalling bricks with a durable and beautiful limestone, the work was completed professionally, on time and with no surprises. The crew cleaned up each day and caused minimum disruption. We were given sufficient forewarning of when the work would start and be completed. Definitely worth a five star rating and we will highly recommend them to others.

I am part owner of a small apartment building whose concrete front steps, both going upstairs and downstairs were crumbling by the autumn of 2014. The steps and the front landing needed to be completely demolished and replaced. A very large job.

My experience with hiring The Weekend Masons was excellent. They repaired damage to our exterior foundation walls, they replaced a few broken brick windowsills, and replaced some damaged siding with brick. Each time we called, they were always available to discuss our issues, and came out to see what they could do. They were always on time, provided timely estimates, and when it came time to do the work, they always showed up as scheduled, and last but not least, they did a great job. Two years ago, Weekend Masons repaired and replaced our chimney.  Even I could appreciate the improvement.  This year, they repointed the rest of the house.  Those who knew the in’s and out’s of masonry (and I do not) admired the professionalism of the job. Our back wall and chimney on our house built in 1906 had many worn spots, chipped and crumbling bricks. The chimney looked ready to fall. Weekend Masons did a thorough inspection and produced a competitive quote and started and finished the job on time – they started in a couple of days of after we approved the quote and finished in a week. In July 2017 we were having water issues with our window sills and we requested an estimate from Canadian Masonry Services. We scheduled an appointment and their representative was on time, knowledgeable, and he took his time to explain the reason behind the problem and how it would be addressed. They installed beautiful new stone window sills and did a little repointing around the home. After the job was completed I asked the company if I could get the caulking to match the siding instead of it matching the stone. The next morning their team was here and they changed the caulking to my wife  satisfaction, no questions asked…. what a relief!
